    Question about electronics

now I am not an electronics guy... way over my pay grades... but between a recent Lurker vid a friend linked and some specs on some used guns that I see popping up... what's the benefit/intention behind soldering a capacitor onto a board?

I've heard of it being done on timmies and vikings... just curious.

    Thanks!

The MAC43 I used in that video is a 4.5W coil, and the WAS 2.9 board driving it has nothing more than a FET linking battery to coil. It was designed to drive humphrey noids, so I had to increase the power handling of the board to increase the maximum ROF and avoid brownout. Similar things happen with Spyder boards.

In most cases you can get away without, or the OEM has built in superior power handling schemes already, match the the solenoid they're using.
    "So you've done this before?"
"Oh, hell no. But I think it's gonna work."

so it's more compensatory for up-rating the solenoid in the gun? Sorry for asking a lot of (probably) simplistic questions, just want to understand.

Yes, exactly. There is no marginal benefit in a properly designed system.
