A lot of folks believe in the free ability to transfer firearms outside the purview of the BATF and the background check system (i.e. transfering a...

I'm not against the existence of such a database. I'm more concerned with ensuring that it is safeguarded for appropriate uses that wouldn't violate...

Thanks for clarifying that, you had my hopes up that the indictments were published. I do believe this is true for most of the for-profit...

I agree with most of this. My hesitation is largely centered on "Loophole for background checks". Do you mean to say: "No more private...

Yes, I agree any school shooting (as in a mass shooting conducted at a school), is too many. I'm not wading into the gun control debate. Honestly,...

I agree with the NPR article, and they are demonstrating just how these types of events should be reported.

About UV Halo
Biography:
My name is Jonathan, and I'm a Naval Veteran of 12 yrs. I grew up in the northern Los Angeles valley and started playing paintball in the late-summer/early fall of 1989 with my childhood friends (mostly in what we now call “outlaw ball”). I only made it to two fields in that area (Fields of Honor, and Close Encounters) before I joined the navy. Before I even knew of paintball, I was interested in camouflage- I had to be pretty good to ambush my buddies during our early rubberband gun wars...

During my time in the navy I didn't play as often as I'd like due to frequent relocations but, I managed to play in Northern California, Southern Virginia and even Cambridgeshire, England. I left the navy in 2004 and moved to Northern Virginia. Once I settled in, I got more involved in the online aspects of paintball and began to play quite frequently at the fields in my area.

I've always been interested in the scientific aspects of paintball so, it was only a natural thing for me to get interested in the discussions on Punkworks. One problem that I always faced was a lack of data and the means to collect it (the sucky aspect of apartment living). So, when Bryce Larson and Cockerpunk started publishing data, I leaped at the opportunity to run it through its paces. It ultimately led me to being the godfather of Paintball Ballistics, with the first publishing of Ballistic Coefficients for .68, .50, and even .70 paintballs, as well as First Strike Rounds.

Presently (May 2015), I’m wondering how paintball will fit into my life. With the crackdown of insurance companies forbidding fields to allow First Strike Rounds, I’m finding myself at another crossroads of where if I go back to regular paint, I have to adopt more aggressive, “in your face” style or, “accuracy through volume” tactics; neither of which appeal to me. Hopefully, this issue will result in just a brief hiatus. Time will tell.
