patently waits until someone posts a mid-engined, tube framed "truck" to claim trucks handle well ....

i have never claimed to be the best driver. you can look up my results for yourself, im exactly as good as the data states i am. the thing about racing is that you can't have an ego. you are exactly as good as the results sheets says you are, no better, no worse. no room for ego. its actually one of the things i love most about racing, its perfectly evailuative. you did exactly as good as the results sheet says you did, no bullshit. I'm a mid pack national level autocorsser, and a upper mid pack divisional level road racer. its right there on the sheets.
no true Scotsman fallacy is still a fallacy. i can't wait to hear more about "real racers" from you.
folks with egos in amateur racing quit after someone they think is slower beats them. or they become dangerous on track, thats zero percent cool. folks with really big egos (FB car group/forum personalities) don't even show up to race, because they know they wont win.
it would be in error to conclude that because i know i have a more qualified opinion than 99% of humans on car performance, to mean i have some kind of ego and believe im the best driver there ever was. i know i'm not, and every single time i take to the track and don't win, i know it. even winning at a national or divisional level ... there is always someone faster. even F1 and WEC champs who plan to keep there titles next year, know they have work to do to get better. no one goes faster if they already believe they are the best.
no, i just have a more qualified opinion on car performance than 99% of humans, because i've been there and done that far more than most humans.
No Gordon - you redirected. Your comment and mine, in full, that elicited your response.
Your comment:
.Quote:
ill amend my previous statement. in 2 inches of snow, street driving is perfection.
My comment:
My comment is on the roads - first taking my drivers test while it was snowing, which wasn't in a truck.Quote:
That is basically how I learned to drive. I took my drivers test in 3-4 inches of snow.
Drifting a '77 crew-cab 1.5 ton 454 powered dually on roads that are 6" of solid ice is hella fun.
Your reply:
And a gif!Quote:
also trucks handle on ice like total garbage. i mean trucks handle like garbage in any conditions, but esp on ice.
YOU made it about trucks. And boy, did you want to make a point. "What you said is garbage, blah blah blah, I am Gordon, you are wrong"
It wasn't bud. It was about hooning on ice and snow. I was agreeing with you. But your need to be a pompous dick and prove me wrong weighted out, so you made a point that was off topic.Quote:
lol, dont try and re-edit the conversation to be about something else.
The only way there was an argument was when you made point about something I didn't say. Which is sadly typical, so we made fun of you.
Exactly.Quote:
if you can control and enjoy the vehicle under the conditions it could probably fit some definition of handling well
from a technical position obviously trucks have undesirable handling characteristics.
The problem is fixating on the truck as if we are trying to pick the best platform.
We are talking about mastering a vehicle in adverse conditions. The joy of hooning a truck on ice is not about how good it is as a platform, but really about how good it feels to master a vehicle that is not perfect in conditions that are not perfect.
Do we always take out a CS2? No. Often we take out guns that are not perfect to stretch our abilities to play - taking out a rental, a spyder, a phantom, a PGP is a way to extend our abilities and to put more excitement into our game because we know we are not the biggest gun out there, but we can still have fun by challenging ourselves to out play the marker.
Taking a huge, badly balanced vehicle out on ice and being able to drift it sideways, dump the brake, flick the tire and land it exactly where you wanted to park it, or slip it up and down a curvy street that you barely fit on while spinning the tires is a type of mastery that is fun.
Obviously trucks handle badly - but they can still be handled WELL. The action of handling the vehicle is the goal, not the vehicle itself.
no, you were attempting to defend your trucks handling. you did it here:
and here:
only now, are you somehow trying to redefine the argument as about the road. its bullshit, and you know it, but you have to save face. you wouldnt have gone on for 2 pages, with all sorts of boring stories of donuts in trucks, and ice this or that ... trying to pull authority over me because you grew up Alaska or some shit ....
until everyone else with two baincells stepped in an was like "no, trucks handle like garbage"
if you agreed with that assessment the entire time, why the two pages of truck stories? you could have just been like "yup, your right" and we'd be talking about something else.
its laughable you'd even try this, and my assessment remains the same as the politics thread, you are either a moron, or lying on purpose.
Do you guys agree on anything?
I was calling into question your need to even comment, as if you are an expert on driving trucks on ice, or that you were even saying something that needed to be said. It didn't Gordon. It was the most obvious thing, except it wasn't the topic at all. I don't need to be told how to a truck drives on ice. Nobody does. What a stupid thing to bring up. That is why were were bashing you, for just needing to be a dick. And missing the point. This is just your MO. Be a dick. You have been plain in saying that your entire purpose is to be a Troll and it makes you happy. I didn't say a truck is a superior platform to drive with. Or even good. Re-read it. I am talking about driving. I said it exactly like that for that reason.Quote:
Oh, please tell me about driving trucks on ice. I only was born and raised in Alaska, but hey. Gordon knows more than everyone about everything. I don't know why I ever doubt you Gordon.
The other comment wasn't directed at you at all. I was replying to Imped. Not you. It really isn't all about you Gordon.
THEN, Steve kicks in "Trucks are bad", but I didn't say trucks are the best vehicles to drive, I never discussed their ability to drive well to you or Steve. I used Fun. My reply to Steve and you was:
Reading comprehension. You still fail at it. You, like Steve, read something into it that wasn't there.Quote:
As for Steve trying to gallantly come to Gordon's rescue, you both still totally miss the point.
I was not commenting on which car is better - I am commenting on the driving conditions. " ...in 2 inches of snow, street driving is perfection." I am actually agreeing with you Gordon. You bashed the vehicle choice, but I had said "on roads that are 6" of solid ice is hella fun."
I said it is FUN. Not that trucks are good on ice, or ice racing. Fun.
There is nothing for me to edit, or change. You misunderstand. Completely. And put words into my text. Again.
Your need to be a dick really ruins so much of this forum.
Gordon has flat out said he tried to hound, insult and Troll anybody who disagrees with him politically. This is his MO.Quote:
Do you guys agree on anything?
It isn't about me - it is about Gordon's direct need to be a browncoat and try and shout down those who are not of his tribe.
Of course, all of the other forums have kicked him out for it.
