5 Axis milling the Kryptonite body series

I thought it would be cool to show the 5 axis milling paths for JUST the gun body. This doesn't include the roughing or engraving etc. This is just he facets.

Each sets of lines coming away, transition and going back to the body indicates a new orientation for the part on the 5 axis trunnion... lots of them!

Each one was programmed separately and then linked in to get the most efficient toolpath to machine the whole gun body.

Very cool! Is it easier or harder to do angular cuts like the Kryptonite? Say, as compared to a stock Axe body with the rounder cuts?

Far, far, harder to do the angular cuts.

Needs more programming, needs a more capable machine, and is harder to do well.

Rounded cuts are childs play in comparison.

well, that depends on what you call "rounded" and how you plan to make your flats .... there is a lot of really terribly machining passed off in paintball as ok.

This is true. I was just discussing that with regards to the Karnivor earlier.

But the Karnivor looks so good... :P

I actually wish they had dusted the scales instead of just left them with machine marks.

DP milling was always terrible on the G3/4s. But at least those were cheap guns.

Impulse Adrenalin milling was awesome though. A bitch to clean.

The half and half dust/polished Karni bodies were cool at least.
