    we are supposed to have 40 mb service at the shop....just checked it and its at 15dn/1up....way less than it is supposed to be but better than usual. We are usually getting 5-6dn/.5up....

    Not sure if the US does anything like this, but up here, Shaw and Telus have student deals that are 30/month for "25 Mbps" service. There are other details but we'll just go with that for now. I can max that out using ookla's speed test, however when torrenting I can get ~1 Mbps, wired. I think my gf has gotten ~2 wireless on her new laptop, but I wouldn't put money on that.

    I'm really dreading the day I can no longer get student deals.
