Ehhh. Whats the point of seeing production based racing then? Its not like youre seeing stock versions of these cars if they need to be modified to perform a certain level. Is it because the cars look like production vehicles, head rests and all, rather than some weird 4 tire open aired jet? Bizare.

Sure they cheated, is it right? Iunno, is this thing really a competition in the first place? Nah its just a commercial, you cant cheat in a commercial, ford found the way to make the most if their time on tv.

No, it's wrong. This is the critical point I was talking about earlier. We should not be ambiguous about this. Wrong is wrong.

I still can't get behind the bop is a necessary evil. If you want to see different makes race each other, making them all perform the same is asinine or ironic at the least. It's saying we want the car makers in the race but we want to take the cars performance and differences out of it.

Alternative to bop you go back to the old old Nascar rules where you enter a production car set to production specs into the race. If you don't produce a car as good as the next guys, then don't enter.

It helped push car innovation in the muscle car era and would be nice to see cars you can buy setup, racing to help compare them to each other. Other then that again what is the point of not just doing it stock car no brands again?

How dare you stoop to the level of throwing insults. How ignorant can you be?

doing this again, just means you get the homologation specials of the late 1990s, in GT1. where after 2 or 3 seasons, the only thing street based on the cars is the headlights.

and its just prototype racing then, along with the price take to match. which is fine, but we already have prototype racing. there are only two companies with the stomach for those costs right now: porsche and toyota.

Yea but that's where you stop it make them have a roll cage and the proper safety stuff but then make everything else completely stock always.

IE if they want to adjust their suspension the stock car better have an adjustable suspension or they want to race good tires the stock car better come with those tires.

Let's be honest the standard car is a dieing thing, a few years after the self driver's finally take over, individual car ownership will fade out as well then the only racing left will most likely be spec racing pitting driver against driver and car brands won't have much to do with anything. So we can kiss most of these meaningless formats goodbye. But for the time being make the race actual stock production cars in a class race and see innovation occur, or race them spec race and see driver's outperform each other outside of that it is unclear as to the point of getting worked up about another form to me.

Also I agree with you on the prototype racing which is kind of neat but I just don't like seeing that these companies can do this crazy stuff but it will never be practical for production so it starts to lose its point as well.

again, the rules of this dont work either.

so you say, whats a "production car"? how many do you have to make before its a production car? 10? 100? 1000? basically this just is the number of cars the company has to write off and sell for pennies on the dollar in order to make them prototype cars. we did this with group B, we did this with GT1, we've done this many times. basically all this means is how much money the company has to throw at the problem of winning. if your willing to just make 500 versions of your prototpye racing car, and put blinkers on it, and then let them rot in a where house somewhere, you can enter anything you want, and thus win everything. we already went down this path, many times. its always ends in prototype racing, because no one seems to grasp: street cars do not make good race cars.
