A further thought on this. I'm surprised to hear that, since the twins follow the "slow car fast" mantra. I think it's more fun to drive at legal speeds than the RS, which is breaking the law in about 6 seconds. The low power and gearing of the twins (especially '17+ with the 4.30 diff) allow you to give it hell while still going pretty slow. I think it's a blast to drive at fairly normal speeds, myself.

also trucks handle on ice like total garbage. i mean trucks handle like garbage in any conditions, but esp on ice.
Oh, please tell me about driving trucks on ice. I only was born and raised in Alaska, but hey. Gordon knows more than everyone about everything. I don't know why I ever doubt you Gordon.

Despite a lower center of gravity and less weight technically handling better, I'll take a Jeep or 4WD truck with good tires any day in icy/snowy conditions. Doubly if the snow is deeper than a couple inches.

Good tires. It is amazing - I mean, flat our amazing, how good winter tires can be. I remember a girl (who was trying to get me to date her) wanted me to show her how to drive in the snow and ice. Her dad had gotten her expensive tires for her little escort and I took her out to work on controlled spins and how to deal with stopping and related in the college parking lot, which was solid.

Couldn't do it. We might as well have been on dry pavement with pilots on. The engine would barely spin the tires. I couldn't even get a good e-brake turn.

It kinda sucked. Wasn't any fun at all.

I ran an S-10 Blazer for years, and put it all over that place. Great truck for AK. But subies were the car to have. They are so much fun on a bunch of ice, but made day to day driving really easy. We had trucks, suburbans, every type of 4x4. My mom bought an Astro Van that somebody had a full Pathfinder 4X4 underneath. Solid axles, locking hubs, 4LOW. It was taller than it was wide but worked well. Fun times, lots of hooning. Most of us had cheap S-10, Rangers, B2000s, Isuzu even. Some even had 4wd, but not many of them. We had a couple guys with big 4x4's and we would have their numbers memorized. Ah.... lots of memories.

But the wrangler and full sized blazer, due to a short wheelbase, would be more likely to turn and flip sideways on ya. My dad a 82 Full sized Blazer and with the wrong tires on a super slick road a tap on the brakes and it would slide 90 degrees and stay that way till you stopped. Long wheelbase is your friend.

In regard to the SWB/Wrangler comment, I drove them for many years. You've got to know how to drive with them, and then you've got a perfect mix of capability and fun.

And mine was a bit longer (104" WB) and much wider than your standard run-of-the-mill TJ. This was long before its final revision, but I always liked the picture.

Don't you know, if Gordon doesn't agree, it can't be true.

Gordon killed Bruce Lee, cause he "thought" he was wrong.

Gordon also sued Frank Herbert, as Herbert wrote about the "weirding way" & killing with a word. Gordo thought Dune was an unauthorized biography...

There is a ratio to it, and it was pretty close. My 2dr blazer was bit more squirrely (or playful) than my moms 4dr. The 2dr S-10 was a 100" wheelbase, the full size was 104", but the S-10 was 65" to the full size 80" wide. 6.5:10 to 8:10 there abouts. I remember once (and my pop had some wide and slick summer tires on) I tapped the brake and it turned sideways going down a slight hill - we slide the whole distance because it was a perfect 36 degrees out and sunny. Sideways. Didn't tip, but man, those tires were so bad he would get stuck on flat ground if it warmed up too much. Did I mention tires? A long bed and that doesn't happen.

Now, I could do a full turn around in a driveway with a proper reverse/gas/turn/brake maneuver in my S-10. And make some fast turns with a 1st gear drop at about 25mph on ice. A bit longer of a vehicle and that wasn't as easy. But if you get it just right, or a lot of power or a general disregard for your transmission and proper hand brake application and there is a lot you can do on ice.

That being said, my wife refuses to ride with me when it snows out anymore. #Icekhana

Are you talking about pickups? Because pickups handle like shit on ice. Hell, unloaded pickups handle like shit on dry road.
