So Daniel Simon has been chosen to design the Formula E Roborace (autonomous racing on a street circuit) cars. So at the very least the cars will look badass. I'll definitely watch a few races, even if it's not "real" racing.

wow, some scathing comments from VAG about F1, and why they instead to choose to run LMP1 in WEC: http://www.dailysportscar.com/2016/0...confusion.html

ah the dichotomy of machine upgrades.
you take you workhorse most reliable machine, but the least accurate and capable, and go and upgrade it. great right! well, now you just made it nice and unreliable again. :grrr:

Speaking of machines, does anyone here use a Surface Pro 4?
I'm considering one, just wanting to check people's experiences.

I have a SP3, it's my favourite piece of electronics, ever.
If you go on /r/surface, some guys are complaining about some things, there's more info there. Evidently, the new architecture and new OS are requiring some debugging.
Had the first Surface Pro, loved it. I'm running a Surface Pro 3 now, love it just the same. If I destroy it like it did the first one(Took a dive warranting a bounce of three or so feet vertical), I would not hesitate about buying the Surface Pro 4.
I remember hearing when the 4 was released that there were a few updates with major problems, however it seems dust has settled and all is good. I've actually got two Mac converts at work running a Surface Pro 2 and what I believe was the 4.
Well, I did a dumb the other day.
I'm putting together a new AMS for my Hybrid team based on a LTC6803 chip. Each one is worth ~$25. I set up a test area, we finally got communication working after me misreading Wikipedia's tables on SPI modes...
Next day I come back and one of my power supplies was disconnected. No biggie right? Just reconnect it and good to go. Ya, forgot to check what voltage it was at because "Nobody would mess with my setup, they see how complex this is!"
Ya, no. Someone cranked the voltage up from ~3V to 12. Fried a 2W resistor, the chip, possibly an Arduino....
On the plus side, when it was working it seemed to be doing great. Another lesson learned through all of this: Don't toner transfer something as small as SSOP. It's stupid.
Great cheers.
I'd think about a Surface Book but at $5000 NZD it's just not even close to feasible... and probably not that much of a gain anyway besides gaming and screen size.

I've been using a SP4 so far this year pretty much exclusively for notes. The precision is excellent for handwriting and keeping things legible, which is awesome because I go through notebooks like crazy so it's nice to have a centralized location for all my notes and an easy way to organize and index them.
I don't know, fly casual
