So glad we're calling out those bastards in Montenegro.

Any guesses on the next Crimea? It would be pretty bold for Putin to try and take a NATO member, but at this rate it seems possible by 2020.

If you take Latvia, Estonia is surrounded and easier to pressure from all sides. Finland is more european-ized in America's political consciousness, and so you either can make a bolder strike taking it, or expect greater pushback from Americans if you cross into the peninsula. I vote Latvia would be the next target.

EDIT: Wow, I did not know that Finland was not a member of Nato. Latvia is the even more obvious choice then.

Understanding Russian aggression is probably worthwhile from a geopolitical standpoint:

Mr Trump and Fox News seem to be successfully divorcing their base from the notion of a free press.

as i have said for a long time, the greatest threat to western values in the USA ... is from christian republicans.

anti-intellectualism will end this country's greatness long before terrorists, muslims, immigration or whatever else one might think are dangerous. when the country itself turns against the values that made it great, its over.

numerically its rising to the levels of anti-intellectualism that we see in muslim nations, something on the order of 40% of british muslims for example agreed that if you mock Mohammad you should be killed. pretty scary that 40% of mulsims don't believe in freedom of speech. now a quarter of republicans do not believe in freedom of the press.

still minorities, but jesus, this shit will end western civilization. i think we are living in a time that is the most dangerous to western civilization since the last rise of fascism. this time, its from the inside.

At least we can take solace that we'll never hear from the deficit hawks again, they all seem to have gone mute.

Just got this email this morning.

    August 1, 2018

    Dear Valued Comoso Customer,

Thank you for choosing Controlled Motions Solutions as your source for engineered solutions. We appreciate that you depend on us to support the needs of your business, and we continue to strive to ensure that you can depend on us as a supplier who provides quality products and premier customer experience.

The President of The United States, Donald J. Trump, has implemented the following trade restrictions:
    · Section 232, June 1, 2018: Restrictions on steel mill (25%) and aluminum articles (10%) all countries
of origin except Argentina, Australia, Brazil, and South Korea.
    · Section 301, July 6, 2018 Restrictions on products from China, 25%

As a result of these new tariffs, Comoso will be impacted directly on products and material imported to support our customers as well as indirectly via our supply channels. We have carefully analyzed what will be the immediate effect of these tariffs by all product families. Effective August 15, 2018 select products will be assessed a surcharge at the time of shipment. The applicable surcharge varies from 1.5% to 25% depending on the tariff effect by product families.

In addition, there remain unknown cost consequences of the tariffs and potential for cost increases as they are passed down through supply channels. For this reason, we will continue to assess added costs and if necessary, may require adjustment to the applicable surcharge. Comoso will continue to work to mitigate the impact of tariffs with our suppliers, and in the event the tariffs are reduced or removed we will adjust accordingly.

This surcharge will be included on all invoices of the affected products as a separate line item. We will closely monitor ongoing events following the August 15, 2018 implementation and endeavor to inform you of any changes as they arise.

Thanks for doing business with us.

the tarrifs are no good for anyone.

whats quietly killing 3M is the visa programs grinding to a halt. we recruit all over the world and bring researchers and engineers from all over the world here, but trump's policies are slowing down the visa process so much, that is costing us talent big time. its also actively hurting the recruiting value of the USA, just him being president, ie scientists and engineers from around the world do not want to come here at all, they would much rather stay in Europe, or japan, or increasingly: china.

its bigly bad. like real bad.
