Only real way to limit this is to try and help our general education system. Make people smarter in general and some of this will go away. That wont happen, but is the only solution that doesnt have political pitfalls from trying to limit peoples rights.

millenials are way more liberal than boomers, and they are staying liberal, if not even moving slightly left as they age. gen X makes us look like republicans.

we'll be fine. the kids are alright.

we just need to give them a world where voting is still a thing (republicans are working hard to stop this), and limit as much as we can climate change (the time for preventing it is over, the only thing we can do now is mitigate it as much as possible).

Gordon, that statement is silly. Boomers were hippies once, our generations will become conservative. Shit, I've moved right on some stuff just in the last 5 years.

On a different note, this is fun.

Four states are poised to cancel their 2020 GOP presidential primaries and caucuses, a move that would cut off oxygen to Donald Trump*s long-shot primary challengers.

Republican parties in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are expected to finalize the cancellations in meetings this weekend, according to three GOP officials who are familiar with the plans.

Glad to see people are starting to get under Moscow Mitch's skin, though.

The conventional wisdom is that people as a cohort start to become more conservative as they age. However, in a post-2000 political environment, so far this has not been happening. The percentage voting Democrat by age has been increasing proportionally to voting age in every "modern" election. So in 2000, 18-24 year olds voted 47% Bush and 47% Gore. In 2008, 25-34 year olds voted 66% Obama and 31% McCain. In 2016, 30-39 year olds voted 51% Clinton and 40% Trump (and in 2018, that same group went 58% Democrat and 39% Republican). I'm just pulling a few examples that almost match block-to-block, but you can look at every age group in presidential and non-presidential elections and see that the slip to Conservative identification is not overwhelming the cohort(s) like it had previously done in the last century.

There is not a lot of data available to give a big sample size, but if the trend holds then this is likely to mean that the tipping point for a massive liberal political swing comes as an increasingly elderly Republican party leaves the likely voter window(e.g., dies).

The cynical view is that the most affluent support a Republican in office when they want a recession they can take advantage of, and a Democrat to recover.

I feel like the impeachment inquiry and news disclosures on the Ukraine affair are moving at dizzying speed now. Pretty sure we will see an impeachment vote before the 2020 election.

Pretty fun to hear the MAGA folks jump on board with a known corrupt soviet-era prosecutor (Shokin) as justification that Biden did something wrong, because Guliani instructed them to.

Shokin was appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine on 10 February 2015, replacing Vitaly Yarema.[4] He was a controversial appointee due to his perceived role in blocking prosecutions against those accused of shooting demonstrators in the 2014 Ukrainian revolution.[5] As Prosecutor General, he was accused of blocking major cases against allies and influential figures and hindering the fight against corruption in Ukraine.[6]

Various street protests demanding Shokin's resignation were held.[7] On 2 November 2015, there was an assassination attempt against him when an unidentified sniper fired three shots into his office, but was foiled by the bulletproof glass window.[8] His office carried out raids against one of Ukraine*s leading anti-corruption groups, the Anti-Corruption Action Center (AntAC), claiming that it had misappropriated aid money. AntAC was a frequent critic of the Prosecutor General's Office under Shokin.[9]
Since 2012, the Ukrainian prosecutor general had been investigating oligarch Mykola Zlochevsky, owner of the oil and natural gas company Burisma Holdings, over allegations of money laundering, tax evasion, and corruption.[20] In 2014, then-U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, joined the board of directors of Burisma Holdings.[21] In 2015, Shokin became the prosecutor general, inheriting the investigation. The Obama administration and other governments and non-governmental organizations soon became concerned that Shokin was not adequately pursuing corruption in Ukraine, was protecting the political elite, and was regarded as "an obstacle to anti-corruption efforts".[22] Among other issues, he was slow-walking the investigation into Zlochevsky and Burisma * to the extent that Obama officials were considering launching their own criminal investigation into the company for possible money laundering.[20]

In March 2016, Joe Biden threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that if he did not fire Shokin, that the US would hold back its $1 billion in loan guarantees. "I looked at them and said, 'I'm leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you're not getting the money.' [...] He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time."[23] Shokin was dismissed by Parliament later that month.

Shokin claimed in May 2019 that he had been investigating Burisma Holdings.[24][25][26][27] However, Vitaliy Kasko, who had been Shokin's deputy overseeing international cooperation before resigning in February 2016 citing corruption in the office, provided documents to Bloomberg News indicating that under Shokin, the investigation into Burisma had been dormant.[28] Hunter Biden's ties to Burisma Holdings was criticized as a conflict of interest in a New York Times editorial, though Amos Hochstein has claimed to have never seen coordination between Joe Biden and his son on the matter.[29][26]

Womp womp. It'll be fun to see the GoP spin factory working hard on this point, seeing as they have the integrity of a wet kleenex. This administration is such demonstrable scum.
