    Paintball Injuries?

Anyone interested in paintball injury stats?

I have a bunch of them saved up, but I should probably spend some time collecting the 2012 data.

I was injured reading this post!

How current are the stats? I want to see if paintball is still safer then bowling.

I have a bunch of data spanning quite a few years. A lot of it is raw data regarding the nature of the injury, age and date etc...

Here is an example, but I have a lot more stuff:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...FE&usp=sharing

^^ The above is 2004 to 2008. I have a lot more stuff too.

Some stuff is taken from NEISS... others from shall we say discretionary sources.

Out of curiosity, what is column B?

There are SO. MANY. eye injuries in the list. I can't tell you how many times I've had to get players at the field to put their masks back on, and seeing the consequences there is tragic. The first time I ever played, the owner gave a sit-down safety lecture to players in a classroom trailer and yelled at us that a shot could detonate an eyeball. That kind of instruction was enough for me.

EDIT: Looking at the end of the list - it appears that column B was the age of the injured player. Sobering.

seems some of the injuries are only related to paintball because they got hit in the face with a paintball marker. could've easily been a shovel.

Yeah - quite a few. In that there is also quite a few hurt while running. One was got a splinter while picking up a paintball gun. Ha!

4 years of recordings, under 100 a year. About 100 total eye injuries, so 25 a year. Pretty rare actually. Though another 10 a year for face that could have been eyes.

Uhm, only 3 groin area ones:

PT RAN INTO A POLE WHILE PLAYING PAINTBALL.

PT HIT BY PAINTBALL IN THE GROIN. D: SCROTAL EDEMA.

PT PLAYING PAINTBALL,HAD HARD POUCH COVERING GROIN,PT DOVE FORWARD LANDED ON HARD CYLINDER,DX TESTICULAR HEMATOMA & URETHRITIS

    :shudders:

I'd rather take a paintball to the balls/dick (doubletapped myself there... it hurt. long story. 'bug I think you were there?!) than trip and pop a nut with a cup.
